On 11 and 12 September 2025, Austria's most relevant technology conference at the MuseumsQuartier Vienna will focus on the topic of competitiveness.

Under the title "Boosting Competitiveness - The Power of Research and Innovation", the Technology Talks Austria 2025 are dedicated to the central importance of research, technology and innovation (RTI) for competitiveness. From 11 to 12 September 2025 - back-to-back with the FFG Forum on 10 September - world-renowned experts will discuss at the MuseumsQuartier Vienna how Austria and Europe can become more productive and once again lead the world in terms of technology.

Tickets for Austria's most relevant technology conference are now available at www.technology-talks-austria.at (240 euros; students: 120 euros).

Unique discussion platform with all stakeholder groups

"Technology Talks Austria is a unique discussion platform where all key stakeholder groups - science, research, business, industry, politics and the public sector - are represented," emphasises Brigitte Bach, Chairwoman of the Board of Trustees and Managing Director of the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology, which organises the conference together with numerous partners. "Following last year's successful Technology Talks Austria with more than 850 participants, we will once again be offering keynotes, panel discussions and workshops this year," explains Andreas Kugi, Chairman of the Programme Committee and Scientific Director of the AIT.

In close cooperation with the scientific partners (ÖAW, ISTA, acatech, CDG, TU Austria, FWF, AIT and Forschung Austria), high-calibre speakers have been invited who have a European and international perspective:the speakers invited include Alexandra Brintrup (University of Cambridge), Guy Lalanne (OECD), Maria Cristina Russo (EU Commission), Karlheinz Wex (Plansee), Maria Rescigno (Humanitas University), Francois Jacq (CEA, EARTO) and Thomas Henzinger (FORWIT), who will bring a European and international perspective to the discussion.

Plenary sessions, workshops and side events

The programme includes plenary sessions on the topics of productivity and digitalisation, technology leadership, resources and resilience as well as framework conditions for greater competitiveness and offers a top-class discussion platform for European and national RTI policy. These topics will be explored in greater depth in workshops with partners (so far: A3PS, Ecoplus, ESBS, FORWIT, FWF and Joanneum Research) - for example with regard to the role of start-ups and spin-offs, the importance of key technologies or scientific talent. In addition, there will be plenty of opportunities for intensive personal discussions and networking at various side events.

A special focus this year is on regional aspects. Joanneum Research is on board as a new event partner.

Numerous partners involved

The Technology Talks Austria are organised by the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology in close cooperation with the Federal Ministry for Innovation, Mobility and Infrastructure, the Federal Ministry for Women, Science and Research, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs, Energy and Tourism, the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) and the Federation of Austrian Industries (IV).
