In addition to the top-class plenary programme with internationally renowned speakers, the programme includes 14 workshops with well-known partners, in which the general topic of "competitiveness" will be explored in greater depth.

The Technology Talks Austria 2025, which will take place from 11 to 12 September 2025 - following the FFG Forum on 10 September - will be dedicated to the central importance of research, technology and innovation (RTI) for competitiveness under the title "Boosting Competitiveness - The Power of Research and Innovation". Tickets are available at www.technology-talks-austria.at (240 euros; students: 120 euros).

The programme includes plenary sessions on the topics of productivity and digitalisation, technology leadership, resources and resilience as well as framework conditions for greater competitiveness and offers a first-class discussion platform for European and national RTI policy. In addition, young researchers will be offered a big stage in two programme items (TU Austria Innovation Marathon and Falling Walls Lab Austria). A special focus this year will also be on regional aspects.

In close cooperation with the renowned scientific partners, numerous internationally renowned speakers have been invited. Among others, Young Sohn (Samsung), Alexandra Brintrup (University of Cambridge), Jay Lala (RTX), Maria Rescigno (Humanitas University), Leopold Summerer (ESA), Guy Lalanne (OECD), Maria Cristina Russo (EU Commission), Francois Jacq (EARTO/ CEA) and Sylvia Schwaag Serger (Uni Lind, FORWIT) have confirmed their participation.

In-depth workshops

A central component of the Technology Talks Austria 2025 are workshops in which the plenary discussions are deepened or supplemented by related topics. The topics range from EU research policy to battery, space and mobility technologies to the promotion of talent and spin-offs. The following organisations will host workshops:

  • Federal Ministry for Women, Science and Research (BMFWF)
  • Federal Ministry for Innovation, Mobility and Infrastructure (BMIMI)
  • Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs, Energy and Tourism (BMWET) together with Austrian Cooperative Research (ACR)
  • Austrian Association for Advanced Propulsion Systems (A3PS) and partners
  • Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT) together with partners from the start-up and spin-off community
  • ecoplus (Province of Lower Austria)
  • ESBS - Electronics & Software based Systems
  • Federation of Austrian Industries
  • Joanneum Research (Province of Styria)
  • Climate and Energy Fund (KLIEN)
  • Council for Research, Science, Innovation and Technology Development (FORWIT)
  • Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG)
  • Austrian Science Fund (FWF)
  • Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WKO)

In addition, a number of side events are planned - in particular by the federal states of Upper Austria and Styria, TU Austria, the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber, the Federal Ministry of Defence and GAIA-X Hub Austria in cooperation with the Industry 4.0 platform.

Unique discussion platform with all stakeholder groups

"The Technology Talks Austria take a European perspective and take a look at European developments and international experiences," explains Brigitte Bach, Chairwoman of the event's Board of Trustees and Managing Director of the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology. "It is important that all stakeholder groups - science/research/technology, business/industry and politics/public authorities - pull together in order to actually implement these things to increase competitiveness," emphasises Andreas Kugi, Chairman of the Programme Committee and Scientific Director of the AIT.

Numerous partners involved
The Technology Talks Austria are organised by the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology in close cooperation with the Federal Ministry for Innovation, Mobility and Infrastructure, the Federal Ministry for Women, Science and Research, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs, Energy and Tourism, the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) and the Federation of Austrian Industries (IV).

Event partners are TU Austria, the province of Upper Austria and Joanneum Research/Land Steiermark.

Acatech (German Academy of Science and Engineering), AIT Austrian Institute of Technology, Christian Doppler Gesellschaft (CDG), Forschung Austria, Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ISTA), TU Austria (TU Vienna, TU Graz, Montanuni Leoben), the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) and the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW) are involved in the programming as scientific partners.
