More than 800 participants and 125 speakers discuss the role of research, technology and innovation for Europe's future at the MuseumsQuartier Vienna.
Vienna, 10 September 2025 - Tomorrow sees the start of Technology Talks Austria 2025 at the MuseumsQuartier Vienna. Under the title "Boosting Competitiveness: The Power of Research & Innovation", Austria's leading technology conference is dedicated to one of the most pressing issues of our time: Europe's competitiveness.
More than 25 internationally renowned speakers - led by EU Vice-President Henna Virkkunen and Samsung top manager Young Sohn - will be organising keynote speeches and plenary sessions. There will also be around 100 other speakers in workshops and special events. In total, the conference offers 35 hours of top-class programme for more than 800 expected participants.
The debates will include three federal ministers and numerous other top representatives from the public sector, top representatives from the EU Commission, heads of research institutions, industry representatives, scientists, students and start-up founders.
Excellent research, technology and innovation increase competitiveness
"Technology Talks Austria is Austria's most relevant technology conference with a European and international perspective. This year, we are looking for ways to use research, technology and innovation to increase productivity, expand technological leadership in key areas, secure our technological sovereignty and thus increase the overall competitiveness of Austria and Europe. It is about helping to shape future technologies at the forefront and translating research results into practical applications with impact more quickly," explains Brigitte Bach, spokesperson for the AIT Management Board and Chair of the event's Board of Trustees.
"The central importance of research, technology and innovation for Europe's competitiveness will be explored from different perspectives in six plenary sessions and two keynote speeches. The focus will be on topics such as productivity, digitalisation and artificial intelligence, technology leadership, resources and resilience as well as the political and structural framework conditions for greater competitiveness. In addition, workshops and special events - in close cooperation with numerous partners - will explore selected aspects of the general topic in greater depth and expand the discourse with complementary content," says Andreas Kugi, Scientific Director of the AIT and Chairman of the Programme Advisory Board, providing an insight into the programme.
"An important theme that runs through the entire Technology Talks Austria 2025 programme is the economic and societal importance of start-ups and spin-offs. A crucial question is how we can effectively support the scaling-up of European technology companies to become global players, for example by changing entrepreneurial framework conditions, access to financing and growth strategies. Austria and Europe certainly need more deep-tech success stories," emphasises AIT Managing Director Alexander Svejkovsky.
