Release from
Vienna-based AI start-up is relocating, in partnership with Trending Topics, to the national platform for applied AI and European high-performance computing / AI:AT strengthens the interface between AI infrastructure, media innovation and the Austrian start-up ecosystem
The Viennese AI start-up newsrooms.ai and its media outlet Trending Topics are relocating their headquarters to the AI:AT Coworking Hub run by AI Factory Austria AI:AT. By moving into Austria’s national platform for applied artificial intelligence and high-performance computing (HPC), the two companies are gaining closer access to the infrastructure, expertise and community needed to turn AI applications from ideas into reality.
newsrooms.ai develops AI-powered tools for editorial processes, media analysis and content production. Trending Topics will continue its editorial work from the new location and further develop AI-powered research and production processes. For AI:AT, the move is a further step towards establishing the hub as an open space for start-ups, media innovation, applied research, businesses and public administration.
“Austria needs places where AI does not remain abstract, but is translated into concrete applications. The AI Factory Austria AI:AT strengthens this combination of infrastructure, expertise and implementation. The fact that newsrooms.ai and Trending Topics – an AI start-up and a technology media outlet – are using the hub demonstrates the breadth of the ecosystem – from research and industry to media innovation and communication.”
Peter Hanke, Federal Minister for Innovation, Mobility and Infrastructure
AI, media innovation and European supercomputing in one place
“The arrival of newsrooms.ai and Trending Topics demonstrates what AI:AT is intended to achieve: making AI visible not just as infrastructure, but as a living ecosystem. It is precisely at the intersection of technology, media and communication that applications and formats emerge which promote understanding, trust and the practical use of AI. For us, this is a strong signal that AI:AT is being embraced as a place for collaboration, visibility and implementation.”
Daniel Pepl, Head of Marketing & Communications, AI Factory Austria AI:AT
“Our task is not merely to provide organisations with infrastructure, but to accompany them throughout their AI journey. newsrooms.ai demonstrates how sophisticated AI applications emerge where data, editorial workflows and concrete product development interact. It is precisely such projects that require expertise, consultancy, suitable partners and, where necessary, access to European high-performance computing.”
Karl Kugler, Co-Lead, AI Factory Austria AI:AT
“For many start-ups, it is crucial that access to computing power, data infrastructure and technical advice remains straightforward. Through AI:AT, we are making EuroHPC resources – and, in future, the Austrian AI infrastructure too – as accessible as possible, whilst maintaining high standards of data sovereignty, security and practical applicability.”
Markus Stöhr, Co-Lead, AI Factory Austria AI:AT
Where the future of AI is being built in Austria
“As an AI start-up, we want to be where the future of artificial intelligence is being built in Austria. AI Factory Austria not only offers us access to European supercomputing resources, but also to an ecosystem of research, industry and other start-ups that is enormously valuable for our development. We are delighted to be embarking on this journey together with AI Factory.”
Matteo Rosoli, CEO of newsrooms.ai
“For Trending Topics, the move to AI Factory Austria is also an editorial statement. We have been reporting on the European AI and start-up scene for years – in future, we will be doing so from the very heart of Austria’s AI infrastructure, with the relevant AI software at our side.”
Jakob Steinschaden, Editor-in-Chief of Trending Topics
