The AIT Austrian Institute of Technology has been selected by the European Commission as a member of the newly established AI Act Advisory Forum. Krisztina Rozgonyi will represent the AIT on this high-level advisory body, which supports the European Commission in implementing the European AI Act. This means that the AIT will be directly involved in shaping European AI governance for the next two years. The AI Act Advisory Forum officially commences its work with its first meeting today, 19 June 2026.
The AI Act Advisory Forum brings together leading experts from academia, industry, civil society, and innovative companies and start-ups. It supports the European Commission by providing independent technical expertise on key issues relating to AI regulation, standardisation and the practical implementation of the European legal framework for artificial intelligence.
“Membership of the AI Act Advisory Forum enables us to contribute our scientific expertise directly to the further development of European AI governance. At the same time, we gain early insights into regulatory developments and can tailor our research even more closely to the needs of industry, public administration and society,” says Krisztina Rozgonyi, who will represent AIT within the Forum.
For AIT, membership opens up the opportunity to help shape the practical implementation of the AI Act and to bring evidence-based perspectives from research and innovation into European decision-making processes. This not only enhances the visibility of Austrian cutting-edge research at European level, but also creates direct added value for businesses, public institutions and innovation stakeholders preparing for the requirements of the AI Act.
Rozgonyi also contributes her expertise to AI Factory Austria AI:AT. Representation on the Advisory Forum creates further opportunities to incorporate insights from European governance practice into national innovation and technology transfer activities and to further intensify the exchange between research, industry and policy-making.
